Linux Network Administrator

Purpose and scope: Motive Energy has an opening for a highly skilled Linux Network Administrator, who will work with the engineering team to develop networking infrastructure and deployment tools to support installation and maintenance of renewable energy storage systems used in commercial and industrial environments. These systems have web services on Amazon AWS and servers at remote field sites.
Responsibilities: 
The Engineer will participate in the design, development, test, and validation of a modular energy storage system.   Responsibilities will include:
  • Design and implement network architecture
  • VPN design and implementation
  • Setup and maintain remote login (LDAP/Kerberos) services for remote server logins
  • System health monitoring with Zabbix (or other monitoring software) 
  • Linux setup using system images, and configuration using Ansible or similar
  • Deploying Docker containerized software
  • CI/CD with Jenkins or other build systems

Technical Requirements:
Network architecture
  • OSI model and network debugging
  • Routing under Linux (static routes and routing protocols)
  • Linux iptables/ipchains (firewalls)
VPN design and implementation
  • Certificate generation for VPN/SSH, etc
  • Familiar with different encryption protocols
  • OpenVPN, Wireguard
System monitoring
  • Zabbix or similar
  • Custom scripts for monitoring
Linux setup and configuration
  • Strong Linux skills (Debian/Ubuntu)
  • Setting up new services in Linux environment (systemd or equivalent)
  • Linux system hardening
  • Ansible
Application tools and scripting
  • Docker containers
  • Familiar with Jenkins or other build systems
  • Bash / Python
Write effective technical documentation

Pay $80,000 - $110,000/yr
