  • Lead crews in the installation of carport-mounted PV systems and MPA structures from anchor points through commissioning.
  • Assemble and install racking systems and solar modules onto elevated MPA frames, ensuring proper alignment, torque specs, and structural integrity.
  • Read and interpret electrical and structural plans specific to MPA designs, including drainage, tilt, and parking layout considerations.
  • Perform elevated work using ladders, scissor lifts, and boom lifts, ensuring full compliance with fall protection procedures.
  • Install conduit (PVC, EMT, RMC) and perform wire pulls through elevated MPA assemblies in accordance with NEC and site specs.
  • Apply proper weatherproofing and flashing techniques at all electrical and structural transitions to ensure long-term durability.
  • Conduct QA/QC inspections including:
    • Grounding and bonding
    • Torque checks
    • Conduit labeling and component tagging
    • IV curve tracing and insulation resistance testing
  • Perform commissioning tests:
    • DC Megger and VOC checks
    • Ground resistance measurements
    • Inverter setup, programming, and communication checks
  • Identify and troubleshoot wiring errors, DC faults, or inverter issues during system startup and post-install QA.
  • Coordinate with structural, civil, and electrical teams to adapt installation plans based on field conditions.
  • Ensure clean, secure wire management in exposed environments to prevent degradation or mechanical failure.
  • Maintain strict adherence to OSHA standards, site-specific safety protocols, and company PPE policies.
  • Document daily activity, redline drawings, and capture photo records for commissioning and as-built deliverables.
  • Mentor junior technicians in elevated installation best practices, safety, and workmanship.
Requirements:
  • 3+ years of solar installation experience, including at least 1 year working on carport or MPA-based elevated systems.
  • Proficient in conduit bending, elevated module installation, and structural assembly using MPAs.
  • Solid understanding of carport-specific anchoring, drainage, and layout requirements.
  • OSHA 10 certification required; OSHA 30 and Fall Protection certifications preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Comfortable working at height, in outdoor environments, and around live construction zones.
  • Able to interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and manufacturer installation guides.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and troubleshooting skills.
