The Structural Design Engineer is responsible for the structural design and analysis of photovoltaic (solar) systems including accessory equipment for rooftop & on-grade. This includes analysis of the existing structure's capacity to support the proposed solar system for rooftop projects with existing buildings. Additionally, on grade projects include the steel design of solar cantilever L or T shaped structures & foundation.
Responsibilities:
- Perform structural analysis and design of solar & electrical systems using steel, concrete, wood, and masonry in accordance with California Building Code, ASCE7, ACI, AISC, and other relevant standards.
- Prepare and review structural calculations, feasibility reports, and construction documentation (plans, sections and details).
- Review and interpret geotechnical reports, foundation design criteria, and structural calculations to validate design assumptions and constructability.
- Perform design & review of pier, pile, spread footing, and equipment pad foundations.
- Conduct site visits to perform structural observations, support construction administration, and respond to RFIs, submittals, and field inquiries.
- Participate in quality control reviews and ensure design deliverables meet firm standards and client expectations.
- Support proposal development and fee estimation for new projects and additional services.
- Stay up to date with industry, code cycles & updates, and sustainability practices.

Education/ Training:
- Bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering, required.
- Computer proficiency with MS Office Suite.
- Experienced with specialized design and engineering software programs (such as RISA 3D, RISA Foundation, RISA Connection, Enercalc, Forte, Navisworks, Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, SAP2000, etc.).
- Licensed California Professional Engineer or in the process of obtaining licensure.
Experience:
- 0 to 3 Years of experience in the either the renewable energy industry in a technical capacity or in a structural engineering firm. Professional Experience is desired but not required.
Pay: $105,000-$115,000
