Utility Coordination Manager

Job Description: The Utility Coordination Manager will be a key player in our efforts to streamline and enhance utility coordination across all projects. This position is central to ensuring that Motive Energy remains at the cutting edge of the renewables market, fully leveraging rate structures, tariffs, and incentive programs to provide competitive proposals to our customers.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the utility coordination efforts within Motive Energy, focusing on solar (PV), energy storage systems (ESS), and electric vehicle chargers (EVCs).
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with multiple utilities and partners across different states to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Direct responsibility for submitting applications for incentives, interconnection requests, and utility upgrades for both company and customer projects.
  • Oversee utility shutdown events and coordinate UL inspections for equipment modifications during project interconnection phases.
  • Stay abreast of changes in utility rates, tariffs, and incentive programs to optimize project proposals and outcomes.
  • Develop and implement strategies for effective partnership development with utility companies to support company growth.
  • Ensure clear and effective communication between internal teams, external partners, and utilities, particularly regarding electrical designs and project documentation.
  • Provide technical guidance related to utility coordination, leveraging engineering background to interpret drawings and electrical design documents.

Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in utility coordination or management, specifically within the renewables sector (solar PV, ESS, EVCs).
  • Strong understanding of utility rates, tariffs, and incentive programs related to renewable energy projects.
  • Experience working with multiple utility companies and navigating the complexities of interconnection processes across different states.
  • Engineering background preferred, with the ability to understand and communicate technical details related to electrical design and project documentation.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop productive relationships with utility companies, partners, and internal teams.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Environmental Science, or a related field is preferred.

Pay: $75,000 - $100,000/yr
