Motive Energy develops software to operate Microgrids that integrate Solar PV, Energy Storage, EV Charging, Fuel Cells, and Thermal Generation to create a Smart Grid for the future. As a Software Engineer at Motive Energy, you will be part of a collaborative team that advances software solutions to operate Microgrids around the globe. You will take a lead role in the development of new software products and enhancements to existing products. You should excel in working with large-scale applications and frameworks and have outstanding communication, teamwork, and leadership skills.
Job Responsibilities & Essential Functions
Support and advance back-end software applications by
* Write clean, scalable, production code
* Develop and automate test and deployment scripts
* Refactor code for improved performance and scalability
* Integrate and generalize prototype algorithms within production software
* Perform peer code reviews and assessments
* Integrate and format graphical user displays and dashboards
* Support test and deployment of new products and features
This position involves working collaboratively both within your software team and outside with the front-end software engineers, implementation engineers, and technical sales team. The software development team follows an agile scrum process, and all team members are expected to contribute to technical design reviews, implementation strategies, and sprint planning.
Skills and Qualifications
* 5+ years of experience building back-end or embedded Java applications
* Strong experience in developing multi-threaded applications
* Experience with message-based systems like AMQP or MQTT or other message-based systems
* Experience with RESTful APIs
* Knowledge of OOP design and design patterns
* Java testing frameworks (JUnit, Mockito, etc.)
* Solid understanding of 'git'
* Basic network skills, advanced networking a plus
* Basic Linux command line skills
* Experience with Modbus/serial interfaces a plus
* Experience with lower-level device drivers a plus
* Familiar with Scrum/Agile environment
Pay: $150k/year
