Summary:
Motive Energy Storage Systems Inc., based in Fountain Valley, CA does end-to-end work in the distributed and renewable energy space for Commercial and Industrial customers.

The Project Controller's main objective is to ensure strict financial control over project costs and the maintenance throughout the project execution, from set-up to close-out, of each project. Additionally, it is the project Controllers' responsibility to maintain visibility of project revenues through the monitoring of the project budget or contracts as the scope of work progresses. The Project Controller will work with both the finance and project teams to develop and refine the tools and reports required to meet its main objective as set out above.
Daily Responsibilities and Duties:
  1. Responsible for the business unit project cost control
  2. Produce cost models and project data as required
  3. Have a good understanding of the contracts relating to projects
  4. Ensure revenue and cost reporting/estimating for each stage of the project
  5. Advise on any potential issues relating to project cost or revenue, specifically, any significant deviations from forecast or budget
  6. Perform intake of all sales orders. Enter all required information into the ERP tool.
  7. Create down payment invoice, share with the Account Executive and the customer's AR software
  8. Create/send milestone invoices
  9. Initiate & track commission payments based upon receipt of milestone payments
  10. Email commission sheets to management and Account Executives
  11. Track monthly/annual bookings logs
  12. Collaborate with all departments to coordinate sales transactions
  13. Assist project teams to ensure variation control, specifically, ensuring that costs associated with additional work that is not a part of our contract is being captured and invoiced accordingly
  14. Consult with project teams to ensure all data is correctly collated and provided to the accounts receivable team for the sales invoices to be issued
  15. Attend review meetings to ensure the status of projects are correctly understood and reported
  16. Evaluate project performance including identifying best practice and areas for improvement
  17. Work with the Finance team to achieve month end deadlines, assisting with accruals on projects to ensure accurate project accounting with reporting costs to complete, and cash flows are in the forecasts
  18. Reconcile all purchase invoices relating to projects and assets on a continuous basis - challenging as and when required
  19. Identify risk areas of the contract/project to highlight issues and control where necessary
  20. Ensure complete audit records of project costs are maintained
  21. Interface with the finance team at all projections

 
SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS
  1. Experience in similar position an advantage
  2. Must be collaborative, possess a positive attitude and work well with others
  3. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel is essential
  4. Ability to perform tasks and achieve results with a high degree of accuracy and precision
  5. Ability to work both independently and with teams

Pay: $25-30/hr
